Reading: Your child should read, or be read to, at least ten to twenty minutes per night. Books may be read in any language, but we strongly recommend English reading practice. New Reading Logs are distributed on Mondays and returned each day! Discuss the books that you read with your child. Ask them questions about the events in the story.
Science/Social Studies: As we study each unit for Science and Social Studies, there will be At-Home Activities sent home to reinforce concepts we have studied in the classroom. Your child should complete these activities with a parent/guardian at home and return them the next day to school. They will be shared with the class as a part of their unit portfolio.
Heart Words: Students will continue to learn reading and writing Heart Words in the classroom. There will be a list of 5 Heart Words sent home each week. Your child should practice these Heart Words daily by using the attached flashcards or the suggested heart word practice activities (see link below). These words are the building blocks of reading and writing and do not follow a special pattern or rule. Your child must know them BY HEART!
